Hard Drive Mechanic Software

Review by Tom Betress: I purchased Hard Drive Mechanic. I am a network engineer, teach in the computer science division at a college and have my own consulting business. I have come across many problems that appear to have no explanation for cause and sometimes no FIX either. I was working on a machine for a company that had a "hard drive crash". All their accounting information was on there with no backup. Couldn't access the drive no matter what utilities I tried. thought it was a gonner for sure. I tried Norton Util, MicroScope, etc., and no luck. At my local computer store Ind saw they had Hard Drive Mechanic, figured I had nothing to loose and my customer obviously couldn't be in any worst condition. Review by Chuck: Awful is actually too nice. The product did not open or work ever. Customer and Tech service took a minimum of 5 days to respond. There is no phone number to call. I asked for my guaranteed refund in June. This is the last week of Sept. and I still have no refund. I have gotten the run around since June and very poor and slow replies to any refund questions. Numerous claims that they cannot find my records after I have sent them copies several times. Dont waste your time or money. Honestly, I planned on getting a refund after using it. In about 10 minutes, it scanned and repaired my crashed hard drive that was unreadable. For me, it turned out to be worth the $70.
